In 1965, England had the Beatles, California had the Beach Boys and upstate New York had the Invictas. Yes, it is true we made young girls scream and mothers cringe. We were based out of Rochester, New York. We were the first and only garage band in the area to release an album (Sahara). Our first record was Bo Diddley's "I'm Alright'. The release of this song was actually 2 years before the Stones, Rolling that is, released their version! Our second release, which actually made the Billboard's top 100, was "The Hump." Do the Hump became a house hold word!! The song was such a success it actually outsold, in the upstate New York area, the Beatles "Ticket to Ride" and the Rolling Stones "The Last Time." The Hump actually reached a number spot in Miami, Florida and was climbing the charts in other cities throughout the country, except in Boston, where "The Hump" was officially banned from radio air play. What is really funny is my daughter thinks I am way to old to be hip or to have been hip years ago!! We all still love rock - that has not changed.

Once while performing "the Hump" a police officer arrived and threatened to arrest the group for obscenity if they continued to do "The Hump". We were playing in front of a sizable crowd who got drift of what the officer was doing and became so rowdy that "the law" backed down we able to finish! Ahhhh, the 60's! A remembrance CD was issued in the mid 90's by Forevermore Records. You can still purchase the album which includes songs the band did in the mid 80's for a "reunion" for the city of Rochester.
