Why you shouldn't drink and drive......
A few years ago, our son Max found out why you shouldn't drive and drive. While he usually didn't drink and drive, one very late night after working second shift as well as not eating he visited a party. After a few beers and very early in the morning he decided he was good enough to drive home. Home was only a few short miles. During the drive he fell asleep (or maybe even passed out) and the car (a Camaro) pulled to the left into a median. In the median was a tree which he hit. He had to be cut out of the car. If not for the airbags deploying as well as him wearing a seat belt he would have been killed. As a result of the accident, he broke his left leg femur which got pushed into his knee area shattering the knee cap. After 3.5 hours of surgery which placed a rod in his thigh as well as pins an screws in the knee, he will be out of action for up to four months.

He faced DUI charges (at a 120 lbs it doesn't take much alcohol to push him over the limit), speeding (he was in a 25 mile zone) and reckless driving (remember he hit a tree). This caused him a lot of pain - not only physical but financial. If you ever think you are OK to drive after a few beers or drinks....think again! You are not!! It will catch up with you sooner or later. Always have a driver if you drink.

We had to hire a lawyer to help him out, which costs plenty. Fortunately he has never been in trouble before. Again, he has learned a great lessen!! He will never drink and drive again. He took about 6 months to recuperate. During that time he learned that he actually missed his job (believe it or not!!). Sitting home all day is a bummer!! Daytime TV sucks!.
