Back from Invictas Practice

What a weekend for us to practice. I have placed pictures from our practice on the Invictas page. We had a great practice. We learned a bunch of new tunes, including the Stones "It's All Over Now" which we did back in the '60's. Also a new tune: Skip and go Naked. Skip and go Naked was a drink back in the '60's that was a big drink at Tiny's Bengel Inn. We have altered the drink and it will be our theme for this years tour. The drink is based on the old Skip/naked drink but we have put more into it. The Skip and Go Naked will be our Tour theme this year.

April 1st is Apple's 30th anniversary. 30 years of making great stuff. This weekend I'll do a 30th review on Apple. So far, my new MacBook Pro rocks!!

The Invictas are Back!

This weekend kicks off the Invictas practice for the Summer 2006 Classic Rock 'n Roll tour!! New tunes will be added to be able to complete a full night. Also a new Invicats song....."skip and Go Naked"! If you only knew.

I finally received my new MacBook Pro which is the new laptop from Apple which includes the new Intel Core Duo chip. This laptop rocks!! Much faster than my older G4 Powerbook. Much brighter screen, higher resolution (matching the Apple HD Cinema Displays. Laptop is much faster. To get older G4/G5 programs to run on the new Intel chip, a background program re-complies code on the fly. This program is called Rosette. Many programs are being converted to "Universal Binary" which run on both the older "G" series computers and the new Intel systems. In almost all cases all older G programs such as Office run just fine. The new Universal programs run REAL fast. Great laptop with no problems so far. More Monday!!

What a Weekend!

Great past weekend! Got to get the bird out of the hanger and do some flying - finally. this winter has been tough. Weather was great. Smooth air (rats, no bumps) and very little haze. That was Saturday.

Sunday, Max and I got together to film some footage for the 4th Invictas DVD. This next DVD will feature when we played at the Midvale Country Club and some more of us playing at Pomodoro's (Second time we played). Max and I did a Introduction for the DVD. I do believe we both with get some awards for our performance!! It was a lot of fun doing it. Can't tell you what it is you will have to ask or wait until the DVD is released!

New Mac Mini's

Well it happened again. Steve Jobs of Apple announced the new Mac Mini with the new Intel Core Duo chip. The mini computer is at least 5 times as fast as the G4 version. This system should be a kick-ass small computer. Would be a great media center computer. Link to you TV or wide screen LCD monitor and let it be a media center. System comes with iLife 06 which is a great package. iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, Garage Band, etc. All you need is a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Great machine for those Windows (better known as Windoze) users to switch and see what the Mac is all about.

OK....the big buzz on the airwaves has been about a couple of so called viruses hitting the Macs. First, they were really not viruses, more of "mal-ware" and/or proof of concept type stuff. Unlike Windows, the Mac user actually had to do something to get the mal-ware to work. Which points to the fact, if you get something from someone you don't know, don't open it or don't activate it. One of the so called viruses came in as a JPEG that was suppose to be a picture of the next version of OS X (Leopard). You had to double click on the JPEG, which was actually a mal-ware program, to get it to work. In fact being a program, you would be prompted for you Admin password. that should be a good clue that something was a miss!!! To open a image file I need a pass word? What's up with that??

OK....I purchased another Bass Amp head - Gillian-Krueger Blackline 600 (300 watt baby). Might run the Kustom into one speaker and the Blackline into the other. Give me lots of control. I actually needed a back up as the Kustom goes back to the early 70's and has a tendency for connections to shake loose!! Fortunatly it has only happened when practicing. hate to have than happen when playing!!

Enough for now...got to head to Rochester tonight for work at RIT; be back Friday night.
